Erik Gustafson - ISA Certified Master Arborist RM-7467B - Owner/Sales Representative/Co-President

My passion for everything outdoors began young while growing up in Western New York, and has carried with me into my professional career. After high school, I attended community college where my passion for the outdoors developed into a fascination with trees. I then attended the State University of New York’s College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY-ESF) in Syracuse, receiving a BS in Forest Health.

I went to work after college for Bartlett Tree Experts, and then decided my love for mountains   and climbing would bring me to Colorado in 2010. I am now an ISA certified master arborist  and a Qualified Supervisor (#26098) with the Colorado Department of Agriculture for pesticide applications in multiple categories including ornamentals and forestry.

I feel that my education and experience allows me a unique perspective on the issues affecting   our native and urban forests and am excited for the opportunity to live and work here in this incredible part of the country.

Richard Koss - ISA Certified Arborist RM-7900A - Owner/President/Jack of all trades

My name is Richard Koss and I am the President and CEO of Patriot Tree Company. I have an A.S degree from Monroe Community College and a B.S. in Business Administration from Oswego State University.

My Prior Experience consists of being an HR Assistant at the University of Rochester specializing in Short term disability, as well as 5 years of experience as a plumber with Mason Trenching Company. I was a foreman with Mason Trenching Company giving me management experience. I am from Western New York just outside of the city of Rochester and moved to Colorado in March of 2012. I’ve loved Colorado since I first came out here in the summer of 2009 on a 60 day 12,000 mile motorcycle road trip. My hobbies include Motorcycling, Hiking, Kayaking, and computers.

I’m happy to be with Patriot Tree Company because I like being a part of a company whose goal it is to make this world more beautiful than when we started. Whether it’s planting new trees or removing old unwanted trees we can help shape the landscape that people will see for generations. That’s why I like getting out of bed for work every morning.

Michael Smith - ISA Certified Arborist RM-7923A - Owner/Sales Representative

Michael moved to Colorado after a stint in the Coast guard, he attended Colorado State university and has a bachelors degree in Forestry. He spent some time working for the US Forest service before joining Patriot Tree Company. He brings his passions about trees to work every day and his knowledge about plant healthcare is first rate.

Daniel Stone - Owner/Tree Climber/Crane Operator/Co-President

Daniel is originally from Virginia, he got the itch and moved out west to attend the university of Wyoming for engineering, He's been climbing trees since 2013 and is one of our top climbers, his knowledge in engineering helps him every day as he works to

Keith Boarman - ISA Certified Arborist RM-7501A - Owner/Climber/Crane Operator/Co-President

I started out my professional life in the Army as a Green Beret. When I got out of the Army I found a job as a tree climber. I fell in love with tree work. It has all the rigor and excitement I  enjoy and you get the gratification of helping to maintain our urban ecosystem.

Prior to starting Patriot Tree company I worked at many various companies in both Colorado and New York, both as an employee and as a subcontracting arborist. I noticed a large demand for high quality and affordable tree services in Boulder County. At the same time I noticed quality and customer service severely lacking in some of the companies I was working for. I was also very irked by the overuse and abuse of chemicals for plant health care.

When I started Patriot Tree company I took many lessons learned in both Arboriculture and in the Army Special Forces to create an excellent tree company. We are a team oriented company and we pay attention to detail. I make sure our team takes great pride in everything we do from the trickiest removals and the finest pruning job to cleaning up a small aspen stand or shearing some hedges.

I also strive to make sure we have the right equipment and skills on hand to offer any level of tree service, so we are a one stop shop forall of the trees on your property.

Michael Boarman - Tree Climber

 

Since I was very young I have had a great love for everything outdoors, because of my love of the outdoors I decided to pursue a degree in Forest Health from The SUNY school of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse NY.  After receiving my degree I moved to Colorado and began working in tree care.  I started at one of the oldest and largest tree services in Colorado where they taught me the ropes.  Tree work came naturally to me as my education and love of physical activity helped me to excel.  When an opportunity to work here at Patriot Tree Co. for my brother came up, I jumped on it.  I really enjoy the small company atmosphere.  It allows for a higher commitment to quality and I truly feel we are one of the best tree crews around.
